Frequently Asked Questions

Which equipment should you choose? Where can you try it? How do you maintain it? Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about TESSIER equipment for snow, land and water.

Choosing my equipment

Who are TESSIER equipment and products designed for?

Our equipment is designed for people with disabilities who want to take part in a sport or leisure activity, on their own or with a companion. Depending on the product, it is suitable for a first introduction as well as for advanced sports practice.

The choice depends above all on the activity, each person's abilities and how they wish to practice.

How do I choose equipment suited to my practice?

Start by choosing your activity: snow, land or water. We can then help you compare models based on your level of independence, your body type, your experience and your goals.

A trial is recommended whenever possible. It lets you discover the equipment and confirm the model, seat and settings before placing your order.

Snow: choosing sit-ski equipment

Which equipment should I choose to ski independently?

Several pieces of equipment allow you to ski solo:

  • The Tempo Access makes it easier to discover sit-skiing, especially when balance is limited.
  • The Tempo Uniski and the Tempo Dualski offer versatile use, from learning to advanced progression.
  • The Scarver is designed for experienced skiers looking for a technical frame for freeride or competition.
  • The Snow’Kart allows for a quick learning curve, without having to manage balance as on a uniski or a dualski. Assistance is required, especially when getting on a chairlift.

The best choice is confirmed during a trial, with a suitable seat and settings.

How do I know if I can ski independently?

Skiing independently in a uniski or dualski generally requires good upper-body mobility, balance and the ability to use your arms and hands.

That said, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. The choice of seat, the settings and the support of a specialized instructor can make a big difference. A trial makes it possible to assess the options for skiing under good conditions.

What options are available if I can't ski independently?

The Snow’Kart can make it possible to ski solo when balance, strength or arm coordination are limited. Its levers are used to steer the device, and the Easydrive bar allows one-handed use. Assistance is required, particularly for boarding the chairlift.

If solo piloting is not suitable, duo equipment such as the Tempo Duo or the Tandem’Flex lets you enjoy the thrill of gliding with a trained pilot.

What is the difference between solo and duo skiing?

In solo mode, skiers control their own equipment, according to their abilities and skill level. In duo mode, a pilot drives the device and accompanies the passenger during the downhill and when using ski lifts.

Duo skiing may suit people who need significant assistance or who would like to discover snow sports with a companion.

How do I choose between the Tempo Duo and the Tandem’Flex?

The Tempo Duo prioritizes versatility and ease of control. It can be fitted with different seat configurations depending on the passenger's needs.

The Tandem’Flex is particularly worthwhile when substantial support, easier transfers or a very comfortable position are required. The choice also depends on the pilot's profile and the training required to use it.

We recommend comparing the two models with our team before settling on a configuration.

Which accessories should I plan for sit-skiing?

The accessories you need vary depending on the frame and the way you ski. They may include outriggers to support yourself on the snow, an assistance or steering bar, a cover to protect your legs, suitable gloves or retaining straps.

Some equipment may also require accessories specific to its configuration, such as a pump for adjusting the shock absorber. We help you choose what is truly useful for your equipment.

Can I upgrade my equipment over time?

Some equipment comes with options or adjustments that let you adapt it as your practice evolves. Depending on the model, it may also be possible to modify a uniski or dualski configuration.

The possibilities depend on the frame and its version. Please tell us the model and year of your equipment so that we can check which upgrades are compatible.

Is TESSIER equipment suitable for competition?

Yes. The Scarver is particularly intended for experienced skiers looking for a technical setup for racing or freeriding.

How the equipment is prepared then depends on the discipline, the seat, the uniski or dualski configuration and the settings you want. Our team can guide you in making this choice.

Do you offer equipment for Nordic skiing?

Yes. The Eskaip is our Nordic sled, designed for enjoying Nordic activities in a seated position.

Land: choosing all-terrain equipment

What is the difference between the Cimgo and the Trialp?

The Cimgo is a tandem all-terrain wheelchair designed for downhill rides. A trained pilot steers the device while the passenger enjoys the ride.

The Trialp is an electric all-terrain wheelchair designed to be driven by its user. The choice between the two therefore depends first and foremost on the experience you want: an assisted downhill or an independent, self-piloted outing.

Is the Cimgo operated by a companion?

Yes. The pilot stands in stirrups and steers the Cimgo using handlebars. They must complete training to learn how to operate the equipment and assist the passenger on the terrain.

The Cimgo is not motorized. How it gets to the starting point depends on what the practice site allows, particularly access by vehicle or ski lift.

Does the Trialp allow for independent use?

Yes, the Trialp is designed for all-terrain use, controlled by the user. Its three drive wheels and steerable rear wheel allow it to handle a variety of trails and terrains.

A trial remains the best way to check that its handling, setup and adjustments match your abilities and your planned outings.

Water: choosing sit-wake equipment

What is sitwake?

The sitwake is the seated form of wakeboarding. The rider sits in a frame mounted on a board and is towed by a cable or a boat.

Riders can enjoy their first sensations of gliding, improve their turns and then, depending on their level, perform tricks.

Can I do sitwake?

Sitwake generally requires good mobility and sufficient upper-body ability. What is possible also depends on the seat, the settings and the support available at the place where you practice.

A introductory session with a specialized organization lets you discover the activity and find a suitable configuration.

What is the difference between the Swaik and the Swaik Air?

The Swaik prioritizes direct feedback from the board and retains its flex thanks to the Full-Flex system. The Swaik Air adds Active Stability full suspension for more damping and stability. Both frames are adjustable and suit different riding levels. A trial lets you compare the sensations and choose according to your comfort needs and your riding style.

What equipment do I need to practice sitwake?

You need a frame from sitwake, a suitable seat and a compatible wakeboard. The choice of seat and its adjustments play an essential role in the comfort and control of the equipment.

We can help you define a complete setup based on your body type, your level and the way you ride.

Trying out and learning

Where can I try out TESSIER equipment?

The trial options vary depending on the activity. Sit-ski trials can be arranged by appointment at our workshop in Sainte-Hélène-du-Lac, or you can simply meet us at one of our events. The Trialp can be tried out at our premises, by appointment. For the Swaik and the Swaik Air, trials can be arranged in Savoie or through specialized partners.

You can also discover some of our equipment at demo days and through partner organizations.

I'm new to sit-skiing: where can I take lessons?

Ski schools and specialist associations offer sit-ski lessons with trained instructors. Our map can help you find a facility or a place to ski.

The demo days organized by TESSIER let you discover and try out equipment. They are not a substitute for a ski lesson.

Is training required to operate a Tempo Duo or a Tandem’Flex?

For the Tempo Duo and the piloted Dualski, the training is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended. A course of two days or more is recommended depending on the pilot's level.

For the Tandem’Flex / Tandemski, specific training is mandatory: the programs offered last 4.5 days, 6 days or two 5-day sessions depending on the profile. See the training sheets and contact our team to be directed to the appropriate course.

Is training required to drive the Cimgo?

Yes. The pilot must learn how to drive the Cimgo, anticipate difficult terrain and keep the passenger safe. Partner instructors can point you toward suitable training.

How do I buy TESSIER equipment?

In France, our team will guide you directly in choosing the right product and configuration. You can contact us or prepare a quote request from the website. A trial is recommended whenever possible.

Internationally, your project may be handled by TESSIER or by one of our partner dealers, depending on your country.

Customizing and equipping your gear

Is the equipment customized for each user?

Most of our equipment can be configured to suit the user's body type, abilities and goals. The seat, its position, the footrests, the suspension and certain options are chosen or adjusted depending on the model.

Our team will guide you in building a coherent configuration and, where possible, validating it during a trial.

How do I choose the options, the seat and the settings?

We start from your activity, your setup in the seat and your expectations on the slopes. The useful options are not the same for an introduction to sit-skiing, intensive use in a ski school or advanced sports practice.

We help you define the seat and settings suited to the chosen product, then fine-tune the configuration after a trial if necessary.

Which accessories are available for the different types of use?

Our shop offers a range of outriggers, covers, gloves and other accessories designed to complete your equipment.

Before choosing, check compatibility with your model. Our team can guide you if you have any doubt about a size, a binding or how to use an item.
